It only takes six ingredients to make candied pecans — which are a thoughtful and delicious gift for coworkers, teachers, neighbors and anyone else on your list.
They can be used in salads, put on top of vanilla ice cream or eaten straight out of the jar.
The complete recipe for our delicious yet simple candied pecans is below. If you're looking for a complete list of mason jar gift ideas, check them out here.
This homemade, courtesy of Taste of Home, takes less than an hour to make, including baking time. Here’s what you’ll need:
2 ¾ Cups pecan halves (you can also use almonds)
2 Tablespoons butter, softened, divided
1 Cup sugar
½ Cup water
½ Teaspoon salt
½ Teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
Full printable recipe below.
Now that you’ve got your pecans, you’ll want to make them look even merrier in a decorated Mason jar. Attach a "handmade" gift tag and put a round sticker on the top of the jar labelled “Candied Pecans”. These templates are designed to be used with Avery 2" x 2" round stickers (for wide mouth jars) and 1.5" x 1.5" round stickers (regular mouth jars).
To make your gift extra special, use JarJackets to “wrap” your Mason jar. Sure, they look cute, but they also protect the glass from bumps and slips. And when the pecans are all gone, the Mason jar and JarJackets make the perfect combo for taking coffee, a smoothie or even your lunch on the road with you. Even better, JarJackets are dishwasher and microwave safe — and 100 percent non-toxic and made from earth-friendly materials.

Candied pecans can either be naughty (on ice cream) or nice (on salads). Either way, they make a delightful and delicious homemade gift for friends, coworkers, neighbors, family or friends.
2 ¾ Cups pecan halves (you can also use almonds)
2 Tablespoons butter, softened, divided
1 Cup sugar
½ Cup water
½ Teaspoon salt
½ Teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
Place pecans on a baking tray and in a 250-degree oven for 10 minutes or until warmed. Grease another baking tray with 1 tablespoon butter and set aside.
Grease the sides of a large saucepan with the remaining butter and add sugar, water, salt and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly to dissolve sugar. Cover and cook 2 additional minutes to dissolve any sugar crystals that may form on the side of pan.
Cook without stirring until a candy thermometer reads 236 degrees (soft-ball stage). Remove from the heat and add vanilla. Stir in warm pecans until evenly coated.
Spread pecans onto prepared baking pan and bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Spread on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet to cool.
